Introduction
In 2006, the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Aeronautical Engineering of Chung Cheng Institute of Technology(CCIT) merged for future development, and was renamed the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in 2015.
The former Department of Mechanical Engineering has a long history, dating back to the Military Engineering Department of Hanyang Ordnance Engineering School established in 1917. In 1968, CCIT moved to its present location in Zhongzhengling, Daxi, Taoyuan City. The former Department of Aeronautical Engineering was established in 1967 in the National Defense Institute of Technology in order to respond to the establishment of an independent national defense aviation industry by the Ministry of National Defense and promote the research and development, design, production, manufacturing, evaluation and maintenance of Military planes and missiles. It is also the first aeronautical engineering department in Taiwan.
At present, the department has a university department, a master's program in mechanical engineering, and a master's program in aerospace engineering.
The development of teachers and research and teaching facilities has been quite complete and large-scale, enough to keep pace with the relevant institutions of ordinary outstanding public and private universities.
